Welcome to the Clay WV Historical Society.
Welcome to the Clay County Historical Society's website.

You are invited to browse the entire site and we welcome your comments. We will be adding information as it becomes available. If what you are looking for is not currently present, please check back, send us an e-mail, or post a request in our forums. if you have anything to share our archive systems allow for public submission of information. Every effort will be made to make this site as user friendly as possible.

We would also like to acknowledge that we owe our existence to the present and past Clay County Commissioners, who have supported us and who have realized that what we are doing is a good thing for the Clay County people, wherever they are.

07/09/2019 - Did You Hear That?

At long last the process of sorting and adding the many audio interviews, folk tales, songs, and oral history has begun, expect the audio archive to be full of content soon!

05/09/2018 - Social Media...Here We Come!

We are now on Facebook! Check us out: Clay County West Virginia Historical & Landmarks Commission. Please look us up and add your pictures, stories, and history to our page.

03/27/2018 - Shout Box

A new shout box category has been added to the forums, akin to the guest book on the old website. And also the hard to read verification system has been replaced with a simple check box.

03/19/2018 - DNS Change

due to a series of events, we have had to change our page URL to http://claywvhistoricsociety.org

08/16/2016 - Forum

A new questions and discussions forum has been added. It is very basic and will probably see improvements in the future.

08/05/2016 - Photographs Archive

Due to the recent deluge wiping out our Clay WV Heritage server, all recoverable materials that were hosted on that webpage have been transferred to their new home here. claywvheritage.no-ip.org is down probably for good.

Historical society meetings have been rescheduled to the first Thursday of every month at 6:00 p.m.
The media and photograph archives are now back online.
The website may be experiencing a few bugs, due to host software upgrades, we are working to fix any problems that have arisen.

Can anyone identify these students?
